Radio Communications

Overview

The Catwhisker CatCall selective calling system was a British invention developed by Nick Goldring in 1983 to enable the UK CB radio system to be used as an effective mobile communication system and quickly established itself as as an inexpensive but highly effective means of keeping in contact around the farm.

Based on CB radio's the system incorporates a digital selective calling system to ensure ease of contact with other radios on a user group thus ensuring there is no access from any other users on the band and total silence when the radio's are not receiving or transmitting.

The CatCall system provides effective communication over a maximum radius of 5-10 miles, depending on location and radio conditions.

Up to 30 different stations, may be used on any one system each with their own unique receive code making the system suitable for both small farms and large estates alike.

Over 10,000 Catcall radio's were sold between 1983 and 1994 when the popularity of cellular phones brought CatCall production to an end. Our service department closed in 2004
